Shillong, Jan 12, 2026: The incident of the killing of late Dilseng M Sangma on 9th January, 2026, a devoted member of ACHIK NGO in Garo Hills, proves that it is a pre-planned act to see how hard or easy it is to occupy it as ‘Miyaland’ or to annex Indian territory by illegal migrants from Bangladesh, starting from the Garo Hills region, under the State of Meghalaya and the entire seven sister states of Northeast India. Now, my question is, where do they get the courage to kill our tribal Garo indigenous people in Garo Hills in broad daylight? It is all because of the support of Bangladeshi and Pakistani jihadists; the people of Garo Hills and the entire Northeast should be aware of that, said Digros D Shira former Editor of “Da·alni Kobor” Garo News Paper and Social Worker.
In this particular incident, “I would like to thank Dr. Numal Momin, who clearly gave a statement to aware the people of Garo Hills and also to Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, to check Bangladeshi immigrants in Garo Hills and to follow the Assam model that Himanta Biswa Sarma is implementing to safeguard the protection of indigenous people of Assam. I respectfully appeal to Conrad K Sangma to take decisive steps to protect the indigenous tribal people of Meghalaya from a broader and long-term perspective. It is not only a test for the people of Garo Hills; it is a test for the Government of Meghalaya to see how seriously they take their people, land, and cultural identity. I would like to request the Hon’ble Prime Minister of our great nation India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the Hon’ble Home Minister of India Shri Amit Shah Ji to kindly take necessary actions to protect the borders of Meghalaya as well as Northeast India” urged Shira.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family of late Dilseng M Sangma; his sacrifice to protect the land of Garo Hills, will never be forgotten” said Shira.
