GHD News, Dadenggre, Oct 23, 2025: In order to empower the Youth of Meghalaya, the Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme was held at Dadenggre C and RD Block at Multi Facility Centre on 23rd October 2025. The objective of the programme is to expand grassroot participants during cultural exposure and integration, to build leadership, communication through skill development, promote heritage as well as to prepare them to be ambassadors of Meghalaya at National and Global platform. The programme was organized by the District Sports Officer, West Garo Hills district in collaboration with the Dadenggre C & RD Block Dadenggre.

It may be mentioned that the selected students will participate in the State Level competitions which if selected again would get a chance to take part in National and International events.

The Day-long programme witnessed various competition events such as Poetry Writing, Story Writing, Painting, Declamation, Guitar in Solo category while Folk Song, Folk Dance, Quiz, Innovation in Science and Technology, Handicraft Exhibition in Group category.

Speaking during the function, the newly joined Junior Rural Development Officer, Dadenggre C and RD Block, Smti Derani K Sangma stated that students showing their talents in this platform will not only help them to grow and nurture their talents but also shape their personality in future. Further, she mentioned that these action may appear small, however these small things help a person to develop their skills including personal development and become productive citizens in future.

Certificates and Prizes for the winners of various competitions were also awarded during the daylong programme.

For both Folk song and Folk Dance competition the First prizes were won by Kasturba Gandhi Ballika Vidyalaya Secondary School while the second prize bagged by Dadenggre Puri Government Secondary School.

The Tug-of -war was won by Dadenggre Puri Government Secondary School while Little Flower Secondary School won the second prize.

Meanwhile, for Innovation Science and Technology category, the First Prize was awarded to Little Flower Secondary School and second prize to Dadenggre Puri Government School.

Officers and staff of District Sports Office, West Garo Hills, Teachers and students of Dadenggre area participated in the program.
