Ampati, August 4, 2026: Continuing its efforts to bring essential government* services closer to the people, the South West Garo Hills District Administration successfully conducted the third edition of its series of one-day Birth and Death Registration and Aadhaar enrolment and updation drives at Garobadha Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Rerapara C&RD Block on Tuesday.

The drive was organised under the Chief Minister’s Catalytic Fund for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to facilitate access to essential civil registration and Aadhaar-related services at the grassroots level.

During the programme, Birth and Death Certificates were issued on the spot, while Aadhaar enrolment and updation services were also provided.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills, Shri D. B. G. Momin, MCS; Assistant Commissioner, Ampati, Shri M. K. Wankhar, MCS; and Block Development Officer, Rerapara C&RD Block, South West Garo Hills, Shri Cheman D. Shira, MCS, were present during the programme. Officials from the Certificate Branch, Aadhaar enrolment operators, the Executive Magistrate, and other concerned departments also participated to ensure the smooth conduct of the drive.

The initiative enabled eligible residents to obtain Birth and Death Certificates and avail Aadhaar enrolment and updation services closer to their homes, reducing the need to travel long distances and improving access to essential government services.
Ahead of the programme, the District Administration coordinated with the District Medical and Health Officer to mobilise beneficiaries through ASHA workers, ensure the availability of the Medical Officer at the PHC, and arrange essential facilities, including separate rooms, seating arrangements, electricity, and drinking water.

Residents were advised to bring the necessary documents, including proof of identity, proof of residence, and other supporting documents, depending on the service they wished to avail.

The drive is part of the District Administration’s ongoing initiative to strengthen civil registration, expand Aadhaar coverage, and improve access to citizen-centric services while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in South West Garo Hills.
