Shillong, May 12, 2026: Meghalaya Chief Secretary Dr. Shakeel P. Ahammed on Tuesday completed the self-enumeration process for Census 2027, becoming part of the state’s move towards a more digital and citizen-friendly census exercise.
The self-enumeration for the House-Listing Operations (HLO), which began in Meghalaya on May 1, is aimed at making the census process smoother, faster and more efficient through the use of technology.
Dr. Ahammed completed the process through the dedicated self-enumeration portal in the presence of senior state officials, including Commissioner and Secretary Dr. Pooja Pandey, who is the State Nodal Officer for Census 2027, and Secretary Swapnil Tembe, the Additional State Nodal Officer.
Officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya, including Joint Director Subhasish Chatterjee and Deputy Director Aibor Sanglyne, were also present.
The exercise marks an important step in Meghalaya’s preparations for Census 2027, with the government looking to make data collection easier and more streamlined for citizens.
