SHILLONG, FEB 7, 2026: The Pre-Budget Consultation for Financial Year (FY) 2026–2027, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma at Ward’s Lake, in Shillong, brought together voices from across the state to shape an inclusive and people-centric budget for Meghalaya.

Emphasising the importance of citizen participation, the consultation focused on aligning public priorities with the State’s development goals under Vision 2032.

During the interaction, the Finance Department highlighted that Meghalaya is currently the second fastest growing state in India in terms of real GSDP, registering nearly 10% growth for three consecutive years post-Covid.

The State’s economy has expanded by 76.5% between FY 2021 and FY 2025 and is projected to grow into a ₹85,787 crore economy by FY 2028, with a long-term target of reaching a $16 billion economy by 2032 through sustained capital expenditure, welfare expansion, and strategic fiscal management.
