Ampati, May 27, 2026 A training programme on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) under the Vegetable Development Scheme 2025–2026 was successfully conducted at Ajonggre village under Betasing C&RD Block, South West Garo Hills.
The programme was organised by the office of the District Horticulture Officer, South West Garo Hills, Ampati, with the objective of creating awareness among farmers on scientific and sustainable pest management practices for vegetable cultivation.
During the training, resource persons highlighted various eco-friendly pest control measures, identification of common pests affecting vegetable crops, and the importance of reducing excessive use of chemical pesticides. Farmers were also sensitised on the adoption of integrated approaches combining biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical methods to effectively manage crop pests while ensuring environmental safety and improved crop productivity.
The programme witnessed active participation from local farmers and beneficiaries under the scheme, who interacted with officials and shared their field-level experiences and challenges related to vegetable cultivation.
Officials from the Horticulture Department encouraged farmers to adopt modern and sustainable agricultural practices to enhance vegetable production and improve livelihood opportunities in the region.
