Ampati, May 14, 2026: The inaugural programme of the Block Resource Centre (BRC), Rerapara, under Samagra Shiksha, was held on Thursday at Jewilgre in South West Garo Hills. Rangsakona MLA and Chairman of Khadi & Village Industries Board, Subir M. Marak, inaugurated the BLC in the presence of R. T.K. Sangma, Joint Director, School Education & Literacy, West and South West Garo Hills, A.K. Sheikh, District School Education Officer (DSEO), Taposh Ch. Marak, SEO, .Emphul Ch. Marak, SDSEO, Haskell N. Sangma, Block Mission Coordinator (BMC), Harrison R Sangma, local Nokma, teachers, community leaders and members of the public.
In his address, the Chief Guest Subir M. Marak said that earlier, BMCs had to travel long distances to submit essential data for processing, but with the establishment of the new infrastructure, administrative services had become more accessible to the people of the region.
He further urged the people to embrace the institution as their own and work together for its upkeep and development.
Highlighting the need to strengthen government schools, he observed that good academic results in the district were largely confined to private institutions and stressed the importance of improving government schools. He appealed to parents to enrol their children in government schools and assured that grievances related to education would be addressed through proper channels.
Speaking on the occasion, T.K. Sangma, Joint Director, School Education & Literacy stated that with the completion of the infrastructure, administration had come closer to the people. He urged the BMC to dedicate at least one day every week for grievances and encouraged the public to treat the institution as their own and work collectively towards maintaining and improving it.
Addressing the gathering, the Nokma welcomed the establishment of the institution in the region and appreciated the developmental initiative. Land owner Harrison R. Sangma expressed happiness in donating the land for construction of the centre and stated that the infrastructure would greatly benefit the people of the area.
The programme concluded with expressions of gratitude from the organisers towards all officials, guests and community members who attended the event.
