Marcuise launches catchment rejuvenation project
Williamnagar, May 6,2025: Meghalaya Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, PHE, Housing, etc. Marcuise N Marak, launched the Sensitization Program of Silang A·bri Catchment Rejuvenation Project at Napak A·pal village at Songsak C&RD Block in the presence of Rongjeng MLA Jim M Sangma, Meghalaya State Planning Board Co-Chairman, Nihim D Shira, Nokmas and other dignitaries on 6 May.
Speaking on the occasion, the Marak highlighted the importance and benefits of the rejuvenation project which covered 10 villages. He also informed that Soil and Water Conservation department is planning to transform the scenic Silang A·bri into a tourist destination and urged the villagers to support and cooperate with the Govt. in order to bring more developmental projects thereby uplifting the livelihood of the villagers in the area.
Divisional Officer, Soil and Water Conservation, Simsanggre (T) Division, Corbeth HD Sangma, while delivering the key-note address, sought the cooperation of the Nokmas for successful implementation of the project.
The others who spoke on the day included Rongjeng MLA, Jim M Sangma, Meghalaya State Planning Board Co-chairman, Nihim D Shira, Assistant Pastor of Napak A·pal, Demingstone D Sangma and the Secretary of Garo Heritage Village, Rakkan M Sangma.
