Ampati, September 30, 2025: As part of the ongoing Swasthya Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA) campaign in South West Garo Hills, the District Health Society organised a day-long Health Mela at Rongramgre village under Belbari PHC on Monday and a Blood Donation Camp at Ampati Civil Hospital premises on Tuesday.

The events were held under the leadership of Hema Nayak, Deputy Commissioner & Chairperson of the District Health Society.

The Health Camp witnessed the participation from the entire medical team, including specialists from Ampati Civil Hospital, who extended a range of healthcare services to the local population.

Interacting with members of the Village Health Committee (VHC), SHGs, and village elders, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of regular health checkups for all family members, including men. She also stressed the need for a nutritious breakfast for school-going children, emphasizing that a healthy start to the day boosts immunity and supports both brain and physical development.

Commending the Medical department for selecting a remote village like Rongramgre for the camp, Smt. Nayak noted that bringing healthcare services to underserved areas truly aligns with the spirit of the SNSPA campaign. “Organising camps in interior villages rather than urban centres ensures that we reach those who need it the most,” she stated.

A wide range of specialist medical services were provided during the camp, including ENT, General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Eye and Dental Care, as well as screenings for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Tuberculosis (TB) through X-rays, and other essential diagnostics.

As a continuation of the SNSPA campaign, a Blood Donation Camp which was conducted at Ampati Civil Hospital on Tuesday saw enthusiastic participation from government officials, healthcare workers, and community members, as scores of them came forward to donate blood.

Launched on September 17, the fortnight-long SNSPA campaign is aimed at promoting comprehensive health screenings for women, with immunization and nutritional support to reduce maternal and child mortality. The campaign will continue upto October 2, 2025.
