Town Hall Meeting on MSME organized at Selsella
Tura, February 5, 2025: In a concerted effort to champion the cause of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), RBI Shillong conducted a Town Hall event at Selsella, West Garo Hills on 5th February, 2025. The Town Hall event targeted the people engaged with Cashewnut Cluster along with Cane & Bamboo cluster at Selsella. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with around 200 MSME entrepreneurs converging to engage in meaningful discussions.
It may be mentioned that the Town Hall Meeting was attended by Officials from Reserve Bank of India, Shillong besides Regional Heads/ Senior Officials of major commercial banks and other institutions like MSME-DFO, DCIC, SIDBI, etc.
While inaugurating the event, Navneet Singh Nagar, Deputy General Manager (DGM), RBI Shillong in his keynote address highlighted the significance of Town Hall Meeting on MSME. He emphasized that the Town Hall event presents an opportunity to bring together a diverse array of entrepreneurs, bankers, government officials and regulators. He further highlighted that the event served as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge-sharing to address the challenges faced by MSMEs and pave the way for sustainable economic growth.
Thereafter, General Manager, District Commerce and Industries Centre, West Garo Hills Tura Don Felicient R Marak sensitized the participants about the various schemes run by State government for the development of MSME sector such as PM Viswakarma Scheme etc, and urge the artisans to enrol and avail the opportunity provided through the scheme. This was followed by a session led by Durgesh Pandey, Assistant Director MSME-DFO on various schemes run by the Central Government for the MSME sector.
Further, Senior officials from banks and Selsella R&D Blocks also addressed the participants on various initiatives in the field of MSME and encouraged the existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs of the state.
Some of the local entrepreneurs shared their success stories to motivate budding entrepreneurs present at the meeting. The participants raised their doubts in connection with credit provided by banks, rate of interest charged in case of sponsored schemes, various schemes available in the banks and other Government agencies, etc., which was satisfactorily clarified by the concerned officials. The conduct of the programme was highly appreciated by all stakeholders and the participant entrepreneurs.
