Tura, February 9, 2026: A State Level Mock Drill simulating an 8.2 magnitude earthquake disaster was staged in Dadenggre on 9 February, 2026 which was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority ( DDMA), Tura in collaboration with Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division and National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) New Delhi. The exercise is aimed at gauging the disaster preparedness of the staff of the Medical, Fire & Emergency Services and others who would be the first responders if such an emergency arose in future. Moreover, the mock exercise was held keeping in mind the fact that the area falls under the zone five category of the earthquake prone area and also to create awareness on disaster preparedness, mitigation and response in case of disaster.

The whole exercise of evacuation, search and rescue operation, providing first aid treatment and triage before being shifted by ambulances to hospitals saw an active participation from officers of the Civil Sub-Division Dadenggre, Civil Defence, MPRO, Police, Health, Fire and Emergency Services, Aapda Mitra Volunteers, community respinders and other line departments.

After the exercise, a de-briefing meeting was held at the Conference Hall of Sub-Divisional Office, Tura where Sub-Divisional Officer, Dadenggre, Richa Kulkarni, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajkumar Hajong, Block Development Officer, Dadenggre C&RD Block Vaibhav Anand Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Solomon J Syiem, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Dadenggre R A Sangma, Assistant Deputy Controller, Civil Defence Ampati Abhijeet Hajong and other Officers of the Sub-Division attended the de-briefing session. All participants shared their experiences during the mock exercise and gave their suggestions for making the teams more efficient with better coordination while dealing with disaster in future
