GSU NEHU Unit holds Oath-Taking Ceremony, strengthening commitment to Student Advocacy
Tura, April 4,2025: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), NEHU Unit, marked a significant milestone with the successful Oath-Taking ceremony of its newly appointed members on April 4 2025. The event, was held at NEHU, Tura Campus, underscored the Unit’s dedication to fostering leadership and advancing Student Welfare.
Manseng A. Sangma, Chief Advisor of the GSU Central Executive Committee (CEC), Tura chaired the ceremony and emphasizing the importance of unity and responsibility in student governance. The oath taking was administered by Tengsak G. Momin, President of GSU CEC, Tura urged the members to uphold the organization’s values of integrity and service.
The occasion was further graced in the presence of GSU Rongram Unit’s President Chechang M. Marak and General Secretary Pender G Momin, highlighted inter-unit collaboration. Members of the GSU CEC and local student leaders also participated to celebrate the newly sworn-in team.
Manseng A. Sangma stated, “This ceremony reaffirms our collective resolve to champion the rights of students and address academic and social challenges. The GSU remains steadfast in its mission to empower youth through education and advocacy.”
The newly inducted NEHU Unit members pledged to prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and proactive engagement with student concerns. The newly elected Members are Chean Jakrik A Marak as President, Tengsuang D Sangma as Vice President, Roda Onchiba N Sangma as General Secretary, Jemiah Aranchi M Sangma as Additional General Secretary, Joyshelman D Sangma as Assistant General Secretary, Prenendo D Sangma as Chief Organising Secretary, Ferry Trasha S Marak as Publicity Secretary and Chakram D Sangma as Adviser.
The event was concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening Student Representation and Fostering Academic Excellence across campuses, said Momin.
