It brings to kind attention an urgent matter concerning the incomplete disbursement of scholarships for the Academic year 2023-2024, which left 1,021 students from various institutions of Garo Hills in the State of financial distress. These scholarships are crucial source of support for the students, particularly those from economically weaker sections and to pursue their education without disruption, said GSU President.

The institutions affected by the delayed of scholarship disbursement are

Prolonged uncertainty regarding the scholarships has led to growing anxiety among the students and in some cases, the inability to continue their studies.

The government always prioritised education as a fundamental pillar of Socio-Economic Development, recognizing its transformative impact on Youth and Society. In view of this, GSU CEC request to expedite the process of scholarship disbursement and ensure that the affected students receive their due assistance, without further delay, said Marak.

Furthermore, the robust monitoring mechanism be established to prevent such delays in future. A transparent and accountable system for scholarship distribution will not restore the trust of students in government institutions, but reinforce the State’s commitment to educational empowerment.
