Tura, Nov 29, 2025: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, on Friday, inaugurated the Paver Block Road under Smart Town Project at Lower Hawakhana, in Tura organised by the Development Committee, Lower Hawakhana, Tura.
Speaking during the occasion the Chief Minister said, “I have had the opportunity to visit Lower Hawakhana a number of times while campaigning during the elections and I am happy to see the changes in the locality today.” He added that the small yet significant scheme has brought a major transformation in the locality. He also informed that such paver block roads has ben sanctioned under the Smart Town Project for many other localities of Tura. “Even if much needs to be done we are gradually seeing the transformation of Tura and I believe that with your co-operation and participation we can achieve the larger objectives in the days to come,” he said.
The Chief Minister also informed that a total of Rs 54 Crores under the Smart Town Project is sanctioned for such par block roads for different localities in Tura and also stated that a total of about Rs 1400 Crores is being invested in different development projects for Tura town. “I am happy and it fills me with a sense of pride and satisfaction to see the transformation of Tura town,” he said. He further said that the government is working towards bringing a balanced development not only in all district headquarters but also development in the localities of the towns.
On the different issues flagged by the locality development committee of Lower Hawakhana, the Chief Minister assured to take up on priority basis the approach road to the locality graveyard and the retaining wall for the locality church.
Later the Chief Minister also interacted with the residents of the locality who brought to light issues of public toilets, street lights, CCTVs etc.
