Today Cabinet approves special casual leave to govt employees
Shillong, Mar 26,2025: Today Cabinet approved the grant of Special Casual Leave to State Government Employees. Previous Circulars allowed Special Casual Leave for 15 days annually and the Cabinet today has doubled it to 30 days of Special Casual Leave, informed Chief Minister Conrad K.Sangma.
This decision is especially in view of Govt. Employees taking part in sporting events of National/International importance, the period of the actual days on which they participate in the events and also the time spent in travelling to and from such tournaments events will be treated as ‘on duty’. This is also encourage athletes who are Govt. Employees to train for the upcoming National Games to be hosted by Meghalaya in 2027.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has approved the creation of the Meghalaya Social Welfare Recruitment Board to address the shortfall of Human Resources and expedite the filling of vacancies, added Sangma.
Cabinet has approved the proposal for purchase of a Building in Bangalore City by the Government of Meghalaya for accommodation of visitors from Meghalaya to the city and especially the students. The building will have a Boys’ and Girls’ Dormitory accommodating 50 in each.
In our efforts to decongest Shillong city, Cabinet decided to relocate the Police Reserve to Tynring, New Shillong Township, on the area of 50 Acres will be allocated for the creation of new Police Reserve. The area will also serve as a corridor between the Administrative City and Knowledge City in NST.
Cabinet has also approved the appointment of Smti. R V Suchiang, IAS (Retd.) as the State Chief Information Commissioner (SIC) for the period of 3 years. This is in view of the retirement of Shri Heimonlang Nongpluh, IAS (Retd.)
Cabinet approved that the appointment of Advance Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) for smart metering (Prepaid) in MePDCL on DBFOOT basis under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
