SWGH Police Intercepts Suspected Drug Trafficker

Ampati, January 19, 2025: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the South West Garo Hills Police intercepted a suspected trafficker on State Highway (SH)-12 near the Kiln Factory in Ambari, South West Garo Hills, on Saturday.

The suspect, identified as Md Aktar Hussain (32), son of Late Mozibor Rohman a resident of Fekamari Part-I, P.O Kanaimara, under South Salmara Police Station in Mankachar District, Assam, was detained with a cached of suspected contraband substances.

The seized Items Include, one bike, Yamaha FZ (Registration No. AS 17J 2814),
Contraband, 992 Yaba Tablets (methamphetamine),
two soap boxes containing heroin, weight 19.21 grams

The operation is part of ongoing efforts of the South West Garo Hills Police to curb the menace of drug trafficking and ensure to safety of the community. The suspect and the seized items are being processed as per legal framework, where the suspected is taken into 3 days police custody and further investigation is underway to identify the potential links to larger drug Networks.

A total number of 12 cases have been registered against such drug traffickers in 2024 and 17 persons were arrested by South West Garo Hills Police.
