Tura, Feb 2,2025: A·chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) Organization unequivocally condemns and strongly opposes any individuals or groups who falsely claim minority status and dare to interfere in the governance of the Sixth Schedule-protected Garo Hills. Such unwarranted and illegitimate interference in the traditional and constitutional rights of the indigenous Garo people will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The ACHIK Organization demands that both the state and central governments take immediate and decisive action to curb the unchecked influx of illegal migrants into the Garo Hills region. It is imperative that strict measures be enforced to prevent any illegal settlement, demographic manipulation, or unlawful activities that threaten the cultural and administrative integrity of the region. The failure of authorities to act decisively will be seen as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the region, and the ACHIK Organization, alongside the Garo people, will not remain silent.
Garo Hills is a Sixth Schedule-protected area under the Indian Constitution, and any external interference in its governance structure will be met with fierce, unwavering, and relentless resistance from the indigenous Garo people and the ACHIK Organization. We will not allow any force—domestic or external—to undermine the self-governing rights granted to the region.
Furthermore, the ACHIK Organization issues a stern warning to any individuals, organizations, or political forces that are deliberately attempting to create division within Garo Hills and disrupt its administrative framework. Such acts of provocation, deceit, and manipulation will not go unanswered. Any attempt to alter the demography, governance, or unity of Garo Hills will be treated as an open act of aggression against the indigenous people, and those responsible will bear the full consequences of their actions.
Let it be clear: any deliberate attempts to interfere in Garo Hills’ administration, exploit its resources, or undermine its indigenous governance will inevitably result in serious communal unrest. The ACHIK Organization will stand firm to protect the rights, identity, and governance of the Garo people at all costs. Those who engage in such activities are warned that they are inciting potential conflict, and the responsibility for any ensuing consequences will rest solely upon them.
