Ampati, June 12, 2025: In an unexpected visit to assess sports infrastructure in South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri inspected the under construction Nagrasket Football Turf and International Stadium at Ampati on Thursday.

The Minister’s visit reflecting the government’s commitment to improving sports facilities across Meghalaya, especially in rural and aspiring districts like South West Garo Hills, was accompanied by Dolrich B G. Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, District Sports Officer Saljagring M. Marak, SSCM Assistant Engineer, and other district officials.

During the visit to the Nagrasket turf, the Minister took note of the deteriorating condition of the artificial football turf and directed the SSCM Engineer to initiate immediate renovation work. He instructed that the upgraded turf must be handed over promptly to the District Sports Office and the Football Association of Ampati for effective management and public use.

At the International Stadium site, Minister Warjri expressed dissatisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing works. He instructed SSCM to review the current construction activities and ensure that the remaining work is carried out under strict supervision to maintain standards and timelines.

The Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining quality in sports infrastructure to nurture local talent and promote sports culture in the region.
