Tura, Feb 3,2025:Today Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Officials alongwith Tura MDC Bernard N.Marak initiated Joint Survey of the Tura Municipal area.
Tura Municipal Board (TMB) has expanded it’s area beyond the original Notification of 1978 which was signed by the then Governor. The expansion of the Tura Municipal boundaries beyond the Scheduled area, notified in the Official Notification is unlawful and unconstitutional as it violated the rights of the tribal people said Bernard Marak.
GHADC would specify the Original boundary and exclude the localities in Tura town, which are not notified in the notification. People of Tura will be mostly excluded from the Municipal area, added Marak.
