Williamnagar, April 29,2025:The A·chik Organization for Social Welfare, (AOSW), HQ: Simsanggre, East Garo Hills Meghalaya, strong complaint against the MIDS company for the poor work construction of roads from Asanang to Samanda approach road NH-44 in, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar.
In a statement issued to the Preston Tynsong Minister in-charge PWD Roads & Buildings, AOSW concerned for the development of the State and to Garo Society feeling aggrieved by the poor and shoddy work, then proceeded towards the construction site, is enquired about the ongoing construction of roads from Asanang to Samanda, after thorough enquiry it transpires that the company have not met basic criteria as the standard of construction of roads is very poor which can be damaged when monsoon arrived within 3 to 4 months.
The company did not construct bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and the highway guard railing is shoddy and that see the railing guard was erected on the loose soil, which will surely swept away when the heavy rain has came, said Gripping Marak President of AOSW HQ, Simsanggre.
The most of the land in Garo Hills is hilly area and the land was excavated massively for the construction of roads from hilly area and the company overlooked to construct retaining walls in loose soil and the landslide from hill area have reached to the roads in Rombagre area West Garo Hills and also in Rangmalgre area in East Garo Hills, and also many places, which is life threatening and danger area for the people of the village and for commuters, it can happened accidents if not addressed at this crucial time as the monsoon is fast, added Marak.
The company did not construct new bridge as the most of the bridge were on the verge of collapsing, it cannot withstand heavy loaded trucks, it will be collapsed in anytime and the chances of accident more human fatalities will be inevitable in the Highway if not properly address at this stage he said..
It the month of construction of roads, that the roads has been started to damaged, potholes can be seen in many part of the highway and the roads, it is also falling off steadily to downhill from highway which is on the edge of the hill areas.
“As a organisation, we concern for the safety and lives of the public, we approached the company and urged to address the matter concerning of their developmental work, but they remained mum, never pay heed, that we do not any other option to bring forth for the ends of justice” said the President of AOSW.
In the above stated is facts and circumstances, that the AOSW addressed this issue for the betterment of the society and immediate enquiry into the matter, urged AOSW.
