Tura, April 10, 2025: The Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya informed that the Ministry of Women and Child Development has mandated Aadhar enrolment and verification/ seeding, Facial Recognition System and e-KYC for its targeted beneficiaries (Pregnant mothers, Nursing mothers, children in age group of 0-6 years and Adolescent out of school girls) under Sakhsyam Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0.

Since many beneficiaries are not registered in the POSHAN Tracker which includes children in the age group of 6 months to 6 years, pregnant and nursing mothers, adolescent girls who either have not been Aadhar seeded or have not completed Aadhar enrolment.

Therefore, as per the decision taken during the review meeting held earlier with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma and in order to achieve the targeted goals, the Deputy Commissioners’ of the districts have been instructed to work with CDPO’s in their respective districts to focus on Aadhar seeding/ Verification, Facial recognition and e-KYC data collection for beneficiaries already possessing Aadhar and also to focus on new Aadhar enrolment in the area by facilitating the registration process with house to house visit and to seek additional support from the Health particularly MHIS teams along with their Aadhar operators for seamless enrolment of beneficiaries.

It was also mentioned that Aadhar is unique identifier for citizens of the State which is linked with particular phone number and bank account and is secure as the OTP will only be sent to the registered number and Aadhar is now mandatory for all programs and schemes and can ensure that funds entitled to a beneficiary will not be diverted to anyone else, thus maintaining full transparency.
