West Garo Hills Police rescued two person from abduction by unknown miscreants

Tura, Mar 22, 2025: On 20 March, 2025 the Officer In-Charge of Damal A·sim Police Station, under West Garo Hills, received a written FIR from Rasik Hussain of Bangalkata, Phulbari, West Garo Hills, reported the abduction of his father, Ruvi Hussain and Nazimuddin Sheik, by three unknown miscreants carrying with arms and dagger, while they were transporting cattle. The incident took place near Dananggre Songma forest reserve.

The West Gatmro Hills police team and SF-10 Commandos with Dadenggre and Damal Asim Police teams, promptly initiated to rescue and search operation to nab the unknown arms miscreant. The police team successfully located the hideout of the perpetrators at Dipogre A·sim Chiring, under Damal A·sim Police Station of West Garo Hills. During the wee hours on 21 March 2025. When the police team reached on the forest reserve, the unknown miscreants opened fire on the police team and exchanged gunfire in self-defence.

During the exchanged gunfire, two kidnappers were injured and apprehended, while Ruvi Hussain was safely rescued. The victim and the injured kidnappers were provided with immediate medical treatment at Dadenggre PHC.

While, search and rescue operation, police recovered incriminating evidence including a country made shotgun, a small puma bag and a knife. Another kidnapper, identified as Chingsan M. Marak, was also arrested. Unfortunately, one of the injured kidnappers, Raksan M. Marak, succumbed to his injuries and referred to Tura Civil Hospital from Dadenggre PHC, said police.

The West Garo Hills Police team remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. “We urge the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities, movement of unknown persons or unlawful gatherings to the nearest Police station or contact Police Control Room, Tura at 8837423053 and 9089199064”, informed A.T Sangma, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tura.

Further, SP advised to the general public, businessmen/traders and transporters etc. to exercise caution, while moving around interior places, avoid isolated routes and seek police assistance if needed.

So the general public to cooperate with the police to maintaining law and order and to conjoin District Police in ensuring a safe and secured for everyone, added SP.
