Tura, April 9, 2025: The Chief Organising Secretary of the A·chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) HQ Tura, Raksim Marak has written a letter to the Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, regarding the urgent need to renovation of Seelpang Government LP School, under Rongara C&RD Block, South Garo Hills, Baghmara.
Marak highlighted that the school is not repairing by the government with considerable issues including the top roof and numerous broken windows.
ASPF unhappy with the conditions of Seelpang Govt LP School has been deteriorated conditions. The existing building has been used since 1998, and no further infrastructure support has been provided. It is essential that schools are equipped with safe and conducive environments for learning. The ongoing issues not only disrupt classes during the rainy season, but also create uncomfortable conditions during hot summer days, impacting the students’ overall ability to engage in their education effectively, said Marak.
In the light of these concerns, “We requested concerned department as well as government, immediate intervention to address this matter” Marak asserted.
Furthermore, underscoring this importance of its conditions to highlight that a dedicated teacher at the school, has taken it upon himself to arrange for a temporary roof for the storeroom, incurring expenses personally to protect school materials after the previous roof was damaged in a hailstorm, he said.
In this regards, “We urged Education Minister to take prompt action to provide a temporary roof solution, while considering the allocation of funds for a new school building. We hope that you will be prioritized and provided the necessary support to ensure that the students of Seelpang Govt LP School, can received the quality education” said ASPF Chief Organising Secretary.
